Students in the Robbinsdale School District had the opportunity to learn about social justice issues outside of the classroom on Thursday.
More than 250 area high school students made their way to North Hennepin Community College in Brooklyn Park for the 4th annual Social Justice Day.
The students took part in sessions that teach them about social justice activities in their communities, how to become activists, and how to improve the educational outcomes for students of color.
“These students will some day be in my position, and we want to give them the skills now, so that when they graduate from high school, they carry those skills with them into their life or their career choices,” said Tamuriel Grace, Robbinsdale’s director of achievement integration, careers and colleges.
Students from Cooper, Armstrong and Robbinsdale’s Highview alternative program took part in Thursday’s Social Justice Day event.
